In 2018, I collaborated with production designer Naomi Shohan on The Equalizer 2, where I was entrusted with designing and executing the entire Brant Rock sequence—the film’s climactic finale set in a remote Cape Cod town overtaken by a violent hurricane.
I oversaw the full takeover of Brant Rock’s main street, dressing it with mud, debris, shipwrecks, and nautical detritus. Nearly every storefront and residence was boarded up to evoke post-hurricane destruction.
Key builds included a bakery rigged for an interior explosion and fight sequence, a boat repair warehouse and adjoining shipyard, a sniper tower battle zone, and the hero’s family home. I worked closely with SFX and stunts and adapted sets daily for changing blocking, maintaining continuity and impact in a highly dynamic shoot.

Brant Rock’s hurricane town is a jewel-box set built backwards from a single handoff — every wall, every piece of debris designed first as a problem for SFX and VFX to solve, so scale reads as threat. Nothing here is decorative; the storm-wrecked town exists to be destroyed convincingly, and the design earns its scale by solving the flood before a single drop falls.
