Greyhound
World War II naval thriller, based on the novel The Good Shepherd
Greyhound was an immersive deep dive into the high-stakes naval battles of World War II, told through the lens of a U.S. Navy destroyer crossing the Atlantic under constant threat. Working alongside production designer David Crank, I was responsible for recreating the intricate interior of a WWII destroyer’s pilot house—a core set critical to both narrative and performance.
My role involved extensive research and technical surveying of a real WWII destroyer’s control room. Every dial, lever, periscope, and communication device had to be either sourced or custom-fabricated to match original specifications. Rebuilding this environment on a sound stage in Baton Rouge allowed complete control over lighting and weather FX—key to capturing the film’s constant tension at sea. The result was a fully immersive naval command center that served as the narrative and emotional hub of the film.
