Me and You and Everyone We Know

Indie drama written and directed by Miranda July, exploring intimacy, loneliness, and connection through interwoven storylines

On Miranda July’s Me and You and Everyone We Know, I collaborated with Production Designer Aran Mann on a low-budget independent production that demanded versatility and creative problem-solving. I served as Set Designer, On-Set Dresser, Shopper/Buyer, and Graphic Artist, taking on multiple roles to help shape the film’s visual language.

Because of the independent scale, I was involved in nearly every aspect of the sets—from sourcing and dressing to graphics and construction. Two favorite contributions included:

  • Designing and upholstering the special trunk prop, a hero object in the film, clad in carefully chosen paper and finishes to give it emotional resonance.

  • Creating the art gallery office, filled with artwork from Aran, her family, and myself—including pieces from my college years, postcards from my own shows, and contributions from friends at SCI-Arc. I even brought in fellow SCI-Arc graduates to help build one of the elevator sets used in the film.

This project was my first independent film experience, and it showed me the value of adaptability and collaboration. Working alongside Miranda July and Aran Mann, I gained a deep understanding of how resourceful, collective creativity can define the visual storytelling of an indie feature.
